The year 2022 is a record-setting year, because never before have so many vacancies been reported in Germany as in this year. Demographic change and ongoing digitization are just a few of the many reasons. In order to secure Germany as a business location in the future and to remain competitive, new ways must be found to cover the need for skilled workers. The immigration of skilled workers from abroad represents great potential here.

Immigration act for skilled personnel in Germany

Skilled workers are an asset for Germany. For this reason, the Skilled Immigration Act came into force on March 1st 2020, which is intended to help strengthen qualified immigration from abroad. The law expanded the framework for the immigration of qualified workers from countries outside the EU to Germany.

Our solution

Skilled workers

Skilled workers are defined as people from abroad who have a university degree or who can provide evidence of professional qualifications.

Entry into the labor market

There is no priority check by the Federal Employment Agency. It is therefore no longer checked whether an applicant from Germany or the EU is available for the specific job. This makes it easier to enter the labor market.

Settlement permit

Foreign skilled workers can obtain a settlement permit in Germany after just four years (previously five years).

Accelerated procedure for skilled workers

With a power of attorney from the skilled worker, an accelerated procedure for skilled workers can be initiated at the responsible foreigners authority in Germany, which will significantly reduce the duration of the administrative procedure until the visa is issued.

Skilled workers with vocational training

The employment of skilled workers with vocational training is no longer limited to understaffed professions. With vocational training recognized in Germany, the residence permit for qualified employment also allows these skilled workers access to all professions for which their qualifications enable them.
